Valenca

Woke up this morning to bright blue sky and beaming sunshine, and made the decision that because the campsite was so ideally situated we would stay another night. Today's little excursion was to Valenca. Its a sort of town within a castle. All the streets had Christmas music pumped into them, and every other shop was a souvenir business, beconing you in to buy their wares. If you ignore that side of it, it was great to walk along the town walls and see the defences that they used to apparently keep out the Spanish and the French. We have also now come to realise that Portuguese is a completely different language to anything we have ever experienced before and we are completely useless at it, but we fully intend to keep trying. We returned to the campsite later, and discovered that the bar is actually closed on Monday's, and so took a short walk down the coast to a beach bar. This was a little wooden cabin, that featured four elderly gentlemen playing cards and a barman, possibly better suited to a bar in a Quentin Tarrantino movie, (on appearance only). Then back to the campsite for some rest.
